South Bend Action Team: Dec 15, 2007

Fifteen South Bend Action members came down to Indy this past Saturday to visit. They arrived at 9 a.m. for a talk over breakfast until 11. Then, we all split up into groups and decorated neighbors houses in the Southside for Christmas, made a wheelchair ramp extension, cooked cookies, visited people at Lockfield Village, hung drywall, made shelving, prepared for a Lord’s Day in 1815, painted the duplex living and dining room, and pushed a truck out of the snow. By 3:00 p.m. the weather was turning for the worst, so the visitors had to pack on into the 15 passenger van and head back to South Bend while there was still daylight. Thanks to you all for visiting!

The team members were George Kane, Jessica Busk, Aimee Lattimer, Josh Thomas, Catherine Pingel, Liz Preuss, Dan Thomas, Renee DeLee, Andrea DeLee, Lisa Shrack, Cathy Feely, Shelia Payne, Margaret Preuss, Katie Havard, and Laura Kane.

Three from South Bend: Dec 12-13, 2007

Michael Busk, Justin Walters, and Dan Mattimore came down for a bit more than a day to visit and join us in going to IUPUI and Lockfield village, as well as help move the guys from 1117 to 1815 and do some electrical work.

9th Grade South Bend: Dec 8

Five 9th graders–Monica Raciti, Julie DeLee, Elise Rowland, Joan Mattimore, Julia Bebe–plus Monique DeLee and Tami Raciti came down for the day and went Christmas caroling with the Indy missionary women on the South Side. They handed out Christmas cards from the People of Praise as they caroled. The missionary men made bunkbeds with a couple guys from the neighborhood for 1815. We all had a Lord’s Day of lasagna together at Ruth and Rick’s house on the Southside.

Mike and Linda Coney: Dec 5

Mike and Linda Coney stopped by for a few hours on their way from New Orleans to South Bend. Mike was going up for the Board of Governors meeting and the TRS. They got to see the Duplex and visit for a bit with Rus, Brian, Hannah, Molly, Jon and Abe.

Work College T’giving: Nov 20

A bunch of folks from the Work College stopped by for the night on their way down to Allendale for Thanksgiving.

Mike Wacker and Jen Torma: Nov 1-5

Mike and Jen of the Missionary Company in Dinkytown visited for a few days, joining right in with our day to day life.

Work College Fall Break: Oct 22-24

Two shifts of Work College people came down during their fall break. We did mission work at IUPUI, toured the South Side, deep cleaned 1815, painted trim in the Duplex, and discovered a sidewalk in the Duplex backyard while clearing it out.
